What it is

A used-oil re-refining plant for operator training: dehydration, stripping, fractionation, thin-film evaporation and vacuum systems, with receiving, utilities, tanks and environment. The process runs on our server.

First steps

1. Click Enter plant.
2. Use the area buttons (100 DEHY, 200 STRIP, 300 FRAC, 400 TFE, 500 VAC, receiving, utilities, tanks, environment) to move between the system screens; Fit all shows the whole plant.
3. Open a loop's faceplate to switch it between AUTO and MAN. Acknowledge alarms with ACK ALL.

Scenarios

Five: wet load in the feed, evaporator fouling trend, loss of wash oil, a cold startup of the heater (scored, burner steps in order), and a truck at the gate, where the trainee runs the intake tests and accepts or rejects the load.

The tabs

• Laboratory: run a test at a sample point, then open the full experiment: theory, test method, worked calculation and quiz.
• Academy: 13 chapters on the process.
• Otis: an advisor listing what to do right now, ranked by priority. In this simulator he gives rule-based advice; there is no chat or voice.
• Trends: production by product, column pressure, evaporator film temperature and bottoms level over the last eight simulated hours.
• Operator: under construction; it will follow the wastewater simulator's format.
