What OTIS does, and what he won't

OTIS is Beedy's AI operator assistant. He watches, explains and advises. People decide.

OTIS is the same assistant everywhere: on this website and in the help center, he guides you to the right tool; inside the Suite, he works beside the crew in every module.

Inside the Suite

  • Right now cards: on every page, OTIS lists what needs attention, computed by rules from the live plant and the records, without AI: an active upset, an overdue action, a handover waiting for acknowledgement, an expired temporary change. Each card has a one-click action, such as opening the record or drafting an investigation. A person always clicks.
  • Ask: type a question about the plant or the page. OTIS answers from the page's live data: signals and their meaning, limits, incidents, the crew's notes and the records. He can draft a shift handover or walk you through an incident.
  • On the public demonstration, each visitor can ask 20 questions per hour.

On the website and in the help center

OTIS asks what you are trying to do and points you to the right door. When you ask a question, he answers only from this help center, and he shows the pages he used.

What he won't do

  • Control a plant. On a real plant, OTIS advises and people decide. He never changes a setpoint, and he is never in the safety loop. The simulator's autopilot is a training demonstration on a training plant only.
  • Approve, sign, certify or classify anything. Those are people's decisions, and the Suite records who made them.
  • Invent. If a value, a record or a procedure is not in his data, he says what is missing. A procedure is cited only if it exists.
  • Quote prices, delivery dates or guarantees, or say that a plant is compliant with a regulation. He hands those to a person.

A question about this page? OTIS answers from the help center and cites his sources.
